The Nuselský bridge connects Prague neighbourhoods Nusle and Karlov. The idea of building the bridge had been considered since 30ies of last century, in the end the bridge was constructed only in the 70ties.Its construction is made of reinforced concrete. The bridge serves both as a highway and as a key traffic knot – the metro (subway) passes through the bridge. The bridge also has its dark side, many people decided to take their lives by jumping off the bridge. These are commemorated by a memorial Na Folimance “ Out of their decision“. This is why the railing was lifted up to prevent any more suicides. The memorial has the shape of a street lamp shining up towards the bridge.
