The simplest nozzle for a sand blasting machine is a hollow tube with a threaded portion at one end, with which the part must be attached to
the nozzle holder. The sandblasting nozzle is the fastest wearing part that, if properly selected, does not exceed 800 to 1000 hours, depending on the material and the air- sand mixture.
Basic geometrical characteristics of replaceable industrial nozzles:
Diameter of the connection thread (depending on the technical characteristics of the sander, but a 2 "or 1¼" pipe thread is generally used). It is also possible to connect the nozzle with a union nut and a sealing washer to
the nozzle holder. The hand-made nozzles are attached to the tube of the work unit using conventional hose clamps.
The length of the piece varies between 7 and 23 mm (the shorter ones are used to clean less dirty surfaces).
The diameter of the inner hole in its minimum cross section replaceable tips of 6, 8, 10 and 12 mm in diameter are available.
The inlet diameter of the nozzle is determined by the diameter of the connecting pipe (it can be 25 or 32 mm).
Sanded boron carbide nozzles
The main parameter of the part in question is the profile of the internal bore, which determines the loss of consumption of the air-sand mixture, its speed at the entry and the exit of the boron carbide nozzle and the value
of the total hydraulic resistance, which ultimately determines the life of the nozzle.
The simplest version (suitable for making your own hands) is a nozzle with a cylindrical inner hole of constant diameter. In order to improve the aerodynamic properties of these parts, two conical sections are sometimes
made:
The input mixer whose presence makes it possible to increase the energy of the mixture flow entering the nozzle;
The outlet diffuser, the presence of which contributes to increase the surface, is treated simultaneously. The energy of the flux decreases. So, if better cleaning is required, the diffuser profile at the end of the nozzle
is not always present.
The most effective profile of the inner hole to ensure minimal flow loss is the nozzle for sanding with a venturi profile.
Sandblasting nozzle
In this case, the hole consists of three interconnected sections, each of which performs certain functions:
There is a confused dilation at the entrance of the Venturi nozzle, but its angle is less than that of a conventional nozzle die (no more than 20 to 22 °). The confusing part takes up to 30% of the total length of the
game.
Cylinder part, not more than 15%
Diffuser part with a sufficiently small expansion angle (7 ~ 15º), the length of which is determined by the size of the nozzle itself in the plane.
In order to reduce the hydrodynamic resistance of the working mixture moving in the nozzle channel, all the transitions from one part to the other are carried out with radial rounding, the value of which lies within the
limits r = (0.02 ~ 0), 03) d, where d is the mean The diameter of the cylindrical part of the nozzle is.
How to choose a nozzle for a sandblaster
The venturi nozzle makes it possible to increase the speed of movement of the sand-air mixture by 2.5 to 3 times with respect to the nozzles having a different internal hole configuration. A modern venturi-type blast nozzle
can deliver particles at the outlet at a speed of 700 to 720 km / h. At the same time, the cleaning efficiency increases about twice with the same mixing and pressure rates.
