Bio a historie

„I don’t give a fuck I just want to go out on stage and rock…” That’s the way you could sum up the bands philosophy of GORILLA MONSOON in a view words. Founded in May 2001 the band created a very own, distinctive and fucking murdering heavy sound without any compromises which especially on stage is brutal as fuck.

GORILLA MONSOON are as strong as a thousand years old oak with roots in the 70s and a trunk made out of Metal attitude and Rock ’n’ Roll spirit. The boughs and twigs of the crown are Doom Metal, Old School Death Metal and Southern Rock.

The first demo “deflowered world” released in autumn 2001 is a viscous but grooving bastard made out of the ingredients mentioned above.

The second demo “…demonstrating heaviness”, published in 2003 presents the band harder, more inexorable and more fucked up than ever before.

Two years later the ultra doom split single with WEED IN THE HEAD followed.

In June 2005 the band finally entered the GCF Laboratory Studios in Dresden to record the first full length album “Damage King”, produced by Tino Bensing and mastered at Absurd Studios Hamburg by Schrödey. At the same time they got signed by ARMAGEDDON MUSIC after they won the international Wacken Metal Battle in 2005. They released the cd in March 2006. Excellent reviews from the underground and the mainstream press approved the bands way.

Over 120 gigs later the band recorded their second album “Extermination Hammer” in spring 2008. Because of the satisfying result of the Absurd Studios, the band decided to make the complete recordings there. They didn’t regret their decision. Again the album get marvelous reactions by the press.
