Bio a historie

Hailing from the Czech Republic, Jiri Kurcik aka Aze, started his journey as a producer in 2007 by composing for small indie films and game projects. Around 2010 after hearing High Contrasts ‘If We Ever’ and other tracks that grabbed his attention which he had continuously playing on loop, and with his ever increasing interest in production and a growing love for the drum and bass scene, Aze started to dedicate his time to writing his own tracks.
His early attempts at his new found form of music received good encouragement and inspired him to continue in perfecting his sound. Taking influence from the scene and teaching himself to recreate the incredible bass lines and pounding beats that drew him towards drum and bass, Aze entered a remix competion for Jonny Jacks ‘Wide Open’ and this was to be his first release on Quantum DNB in October 2011. Around the same time Aze had interest in his music from a label called Lifestyle Recordings, on this imprint he released his first EP called ‘Toybox’, on which was the well known track ‘Airwalker’. Quantum’s interest in his music continued and led to Aze adding his stamp to various other remixes and having another single signed ‘Sweet Impatience’, which got uploaded on liquicity in December 2011.
Into 2013, continuing to craft out his projects, working along side other producers and entities in the scene resulting in Aze developing his sound further and creating a host of concepts leading him towards a complex cinematic soundscape fused with solid beats and enticing melodically lead music.
As well writing music, Aze was beginning to embark into his DJ career, and from early 2012 when a group called Hoofbeats found him and added him to their line up of DnB talent, and still inviting him to entertaining audiences at their events.
Managing also to play at some of the biggest DnB events in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, including the awesome Imagination and Let it Roll festivals. His journey through Drum and Bass has lead to Aze finding amazing inspiration and influences from other artists and people he has met along the way, with the likes of Feint, Bifidus Aktif and one of his strongest being B – Complex.
Joining forces with Mayan Audio who have fully enrolled to his complex melodies, deep rolling bass lines, snappy drums, Aze’s music having been described as something between deep and minimal but still melodic and toted with a style levelling between S.P.Y and Netsky, the future for this rising star is looking bright!
