Text skladby Down the River

z alba The Years That Passed

Autor hudby: Štěpán Langer
Autor textu: Štěpán Langer

The Winter ends
and days are growing long
I don't want to take
he is dead
and gone
oh, I taste how bitter
my own tears can be
when every joy
turns to pain and misery

But what was that sound
again... and again?
as if the northern wind
cried out my name
I'm sitting by cold waters
gazing into the sun
"I don't believe he's gone," it says
slowly going down

I'm trying to find
at least one sign
that would show me the right way
the only thing I know
I cannot stay here anymore

I sail on
down the river
to the gardens
where the cherry-trees grow
I sail on
down the river
maybe there is the way for me
to show

Was it you River
who took him away from me
it seemed that still waves
nodded to agree
please give me back
the one I really love
more than anything
more than the sun above

I'm trying to find
at least one sign
that would show me the right way
the only thing I know
I cannot stay here anymore

I sail on
down the river
to the gardens
where the cherry-trees grow
sail on
down the river
maybe there is the way for me
to show
